Delegate Bill Carrico Spends Wednesday In Wythe County During "Jobs Tour" As State Senate Election Comes To Close On November 8th

Carrico Campaign Has Focused On Attracting Jobs, Touting Experience
And Conservative Record Over 10 Years In State House
Wytheville, VA-- Delegate Bill Carrico toured Wythe County businesses on Wednesday,
continuing his "Jobs Tour" as the race for the November 8th state senate election comes
to a head. Carrico's campaign has centered on a theme of removing barriers to job
creation, while engaging current businesses to seek out the best ideas for recruiting new
businesses and expansion. Stops on the Wythe County tour included Evatran, Longwood Elastomers, and Gatorade, a plant which Carrico assisted in recruiting to Wytheville in 2006.

"As we near the end of this election cycle, it was great to have the opportunity to visit
with some flourishing businesses and job creators in Wythe County," said Carrico. "I've
had the pleasure of working with many of these folks during my 10 years in the House of
Delegates, and projects like the Gatorade plant opening are among my favorite
accomplishments. These companies are working against the grain of federal government
interference to take risks, and their investment in Southwest Virginia is paying dividends
for the companies and the hundreds of newly employed individuals. This is the kind of
growth that I will work to increase exponentially as the State Senator for district 40."

Bob Deters, Finance Director for PepsiCo PBC's North/West Region, said, "The
Commonwealth of Virginia is incredibly business friendly, thanks in large part to the
hard work of legislators like Bill Carrico. Coupled with the great workforce and
infrastructure accessibility in Wytheville, our Wytheville facilities are some of our
organization's most efficient operations."

Darren Clark, PepsiCo's Regional Government Affairs Director, said "It was a pleasure to
have Delegate Carrico visit today. His hard work was instrumental in recruiting our
operation to the Wytheville area, and we hope to see the efforts of Bill and his colleagues
continue to pay off as other companies expand here in Southwest Virginia to take
advantage of the ample workforce, convenient access to infrastructure, and business
friendly state government."

Regarding Evatran, Carrico said "This is an innovative company building a cutting edge product. They are running a pilot program in Wythe County for an electric car charging system that involves simply parking over the 'pad' and allowing the vehicle to charge for about two hours. This system is the future of electric car technology, and local families are using and enjoying it today. Tom Hough, owner of Evatran, has created nearly 100 jobs with his past and current business ventures in the Wytheville area."

Carrico Makes Tour Of County

Republican State Senate
Candidate and District 5
Delegate Bill Carrico toured
Lee County on Monday, his
second of three campaign stops
in the county this week. Carrico
spent the day with Sheriff
Gary Parsons, visiting local
businesses, and presenting his
jobs initiative for Southwest
Virginia.

"It was a pleasure to spend
the day with Delegate Carrico,
and to have the opportunity
to share with him some
Carrico Makes Tour Of County
of the concerns that we have
in Lee County," said Parsons.
"Southwest Virginia is made
up of the kind of small,
mountain communities like
we have in Lee County, and
Bill shows a very solid understanding
of what it takes to make a place like this flourish.
I'm looking forward to spending
more time work- ing with him
in the future, both during this
campaign and as he settles into
the State Senate."
Carrico said, "My goal in
the State Senate is to bring
meaningful economic development
to Southwest Virginia,
not through government
micromanagement, but
by getting government out
of the way of business, and
recruiting businesses to take
advantage of the abundant
resources we have to offer. The
people of Southwest Virginia
have a ‘mind to work’, and are
the kind of workforce that any
company would be blessed to
have.

As the State Senator
representing the 40th district,
I will propose the creation of an
economic development board
to recruit businesses to the
area. There is no reason that
Lee County and Southwest
Virginia should not be leading
Virginia's economy forward

Delegate Bill Carrico Endorses George Allen For United States Senate

Lawmaker Cites Allen's Conservative Credentials, Record Of
Service As Reasons For His Enthusiastic Endorsement

FRIES, VA-- Delegate Bill Carrico, candidate for Virginia State Senate, issued a statement today offering his official support of George Allen's campaign for the United States Senate. Allen, former Governor of Virginia, has previously served a term as U.S. Senator.

"Governor George Allen has dedicated his life to serving the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia, with integrity, honesty, and conservative values, throughout his career in public service. As Governor, George Allen established sweeping welfare reforms that saved Virginia taxpayers tens of millions of dollars, and brought pride into the lives of Virginians that are now working for a living. As a Senator, he advanced education with a tax relief amendment for education expenses in the 2001 tax cut bill. Throughout his career, George Allen has ardently supported the Second Amendment, as written and intended in the Constitution, to reinforce the individual right to keep and bear arms. He has been a tireless defender of the unborn at every turn. George Allen is the kind of conservative leader that we need in Washington, fighting not only for Virginia and our way of life, but for the very fabric of our nation, a fabric that has worn thin with the weight of big-government and out of control spending. I am honored to offer my full support to George Allen in his campaign to represent the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States Senate," said Delegate Bill Carrico, candidate for Virginia State Senate.
