Bill Carrico to seek 40th District senate seat

Three days after longtime State Sen. William Wampler, R-Bristol, announced his intention to retire from public life at the end of his current term, a fellow Republican legislator has announced that he’ll run to fill the empty seat.
Del. Bill Carrico, R-Independence, announced Monday that he’s seeking the Republican nomination for the 40th District senate seat that Wampler has held since 1988. Election Day is Nov. 8.
Carrico, a 49-year-old former state trooper who grew up in Smyth County, attended college in Abingdon and now calls Grayson County home, has represented the 5th District in the Virginia House of Delegates since 2002... Read More
